Labor Day Weekend in the Heber Valley!

The nice thing about living in a resort town over a holiday weekend is you have a lot of fun activities right at your fingertips!  This is what is going on in the Heber Valley over the 3 day weekend!

MIDWAY SWISS DAYS

Starting at 8 am on August 29th and ending at 8 pm on August 30, Swiss Days is the biggest event held in Midway and brings about 60,000 people to the town square.  With tons of booths set up with crafts, home decor, art, clothing, games, bird houses, yard decor and much more, you will be able to find something for everyone on your Christmas list! There are also a lot of food booths that serve Swiss Tacos, Swiss Kraut, or delicious Swiss bread made by local residents.

The Swiss Days 10k and Kids Race will be held Saturday morning at 7 am.

The Annual Swiss Days Parade will be held at 10 am on Saturday morning. Last year, there were over 100 applicants in the parade!

SOLDIER HOLLOW CLASSIC SHEEPDOG CHAMPIONSHIP

Running all weekend, the world's largest sheepdog championship is held right here in the Heber Valley!  Wild sheep are released high on the mountain, then following his master's whistles, the sheepdog must carefully gather the sheep, bring them down the mountain, take them through gates, separate them based on colors on their collars and then put them in different pens.  You have to see it to believe it!  There are also other competitions like splash dogs, fly ball, and agility.

The food at this event is some of the top fair food in the state.  The vendors actually have to audition! There will be yummy gyros, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches and burritos along with other delicious choices.

HEBER VALLEY RAILROAD

Heber Valley Railroad is having a special this weekend with Swiss Days Special Trains!  Enjoy a 90 minute ride on the historic Heber Creeper for just $10! Trains leave the station at 11 am, 1:30 pm, 4 pm, and 7 pm on Friday and Saturday.  Live entertainment is provided on the train along with a concessions car where you can buy some old fashioned treats!

A MID SUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM

This Friday and Saturday starting at 7, enjoy some Shakespeare at the Timpanogos Valley Theater.  The theater is proud to welcome the guest director David Thorpe as he brings "A Mid Summer Night's Dream" to life for the first time on TVT's stage. This adaption of this beloved romantic comedy will come to life with whimsical, modern and classical touches.

HOMESTEAD SATURDAY NIGHT CONCERT SERIES

Saturday starting at 7 at the Homestead Resort is their weekly concert.  This week Cross Strung will be performing.  They specialize in bluegrass, Celtic and traditional music.  You can also pre-order a picnic dinner through the Homestead.
